Tile Art
Tile; is a handicraft based on manifacturing of bowl, dish, plate, vase, pitcher etc or decorative objects after being fired at 950 – 1000 oC by sub glazing technique with applications of traditional figures drawings and painting on them, following shaping after praparation of the earth with semi valuble quartz. At the same time; goods decorated by colorful decorations and figures, with one side glazed which are used in decoration of wall tiles, porcelain, plates and ceramics are called “tile”, and this decoration work is called “art of tile”. Briefly tile is; mixing of some clay, dense quartz and contributory minerals like kaolin and feldspar, and then not only being decorative, but also their presentation to your table, after the figures applied on like sauce bloomed like flowers in fire.
History of Tile
History of tile goes back to Karakhanids which was founded in 9th century that was the first muslim Turkish states. This shows that the art of tile has a past that is more than a thousand years.
Great Seljuks and Anatolian Seljuks founded on 11th century have commonly used tile in architectural decorations, and after falling of Anatolian Seljuks, a new era has started in 13th century by the foundation of Ottoman Empire. And this art reached today by being continously developed and diversified in terms of products, craftsmanship and figures.
